If we mandate all should have access to ‘health care’ should we not also mandate people do only healthy things? Smoking, drinking, drugs, obesity, promiscuous sex, skydiving and driving in automobiles are all very risky activities.
Mandating a minimum level of government health care will certainly give rise to ever increasing standards of care desired by the public. Would it not be better to allow them to choose for themselves? If they choose no plan, they accept the consequences of that choice. After all, we’re all going to die sometime, right?”

I read this posted by David P. on John Stossel’s blog. His blog is mandatory reading for anyone interested in politics. You know him from his many specials and 20/20 on ABC. He is a libertarian just like myself. This comment was in response to Stossel’s post about Senator DeMint’s Healthcare bill. And yes David P.’s comments match my own feelings about this concept of Government run healthcare. I think this idea is completely asinine.
